The song Truth by Lecrae focus’ on how every one is looking for truth to some extent. Every one in this world believes in something and wants to know what I real and what is not. Even Christians sometimes wonder if what they believe is true.
In the first verse of the song Lecrae is comparing the Christian beliefs and way of life to those of worldly people. He approaches it in a way in which he talks of the excuses these people give for their wrongdoings. “ They play the prostitute but they like to say they just intimate.” He does this to show you just how bad the excuses are and how hypocritical and lost these people really are.
Lecrae then speaks the next line of the song in which he fully explains what he was rapping in the line above while also answering a question that a lot of Christians are faced with by non-Christian people. This is the idea of what is true. Lecrae does this three times throughout the song in order to both give truth to both Christians and non-Christians and to also give Christian people good answers to give to non-Christian people in their daily lives.
During the second verse of the song Lecrae talks about how every one Christian or not is looking for their reason and their purpose on this Earth. Christian people find it in living for God while others find it in various way including sex, money, drugs, alcohol, etc. For people who refuse God, their purpose is themselves, there is nothing but self satisfaction.
At this point Lecrae resumes speaking explaining secular humanism and why it is completely impossible and generally stupid.
The purpose of this song was to let people know that they are not alone in looking for truth and that even if you are Christian does not mean that you should feel stupid or wrong in any way for wanting to make sure that what you are giving your life to is true. The other purpose of this song is to give people answers and to give them the truth. I have been asked questions and have been given excuses, and without this song, I would not have had the answers that I needed to answer them.

Truth Lyrics
[Spoken:]
Bring it drums (Yah)
This song right here
Is for everybody out there looking for truth
Who says, you know
We all in the same boat
Yeah, Christians and Muslims, everybody like that, huh
Yow, you lookin' for truth
Oh, I've got some answers man
So good to be
Ah, let's get into it
Let's go
Night and Day I ain't scared to say that we different
They play the prostitute but they like to say they just intimate
And Idols in their heart, they can't seem to lose their grip on it
See them walkin' in the direction that canned and crippled them
Our World is different like Whitley and Wayne man
They say we look the same but we ain't chasin' the same thing
It all boils down to they think everythings relative
Jesus might as well be a South American president
Very evident, they say that Jesus was heaven sent
They lifestyle reflects they worship themselves instead of Him
They don't acknowledge the Christ if they did they wouldn't worship themselves by the way that they live
All these rappers say they got guns that spray off 16
I've got a Luke 9 that can take all 16
That's the Bible the one they prop
But they don't care about the author they think he's a joke.
[Spoken:]
"Man, It's just some folks say, "All truth is relative, it just depends on what you believe." You know, "hey man, ain't no way to know for sure who God is or what's really true." But that means you believe your own statement; that there's no way to know what's really true. You're saying that that statement is true. You're killing yourself. If what's true for you is true for you and what's true for me is true for me, what if my truth says your's is a lie? Is it still true? Come on man! "
I promise everybody is asking the same questions
"Who am I? What is my purpose and my direction? "
Y'probably believe that you exist for no other reason
Than Self-satisfaction, hedonism and pleasing things
Life's about you getting' yours and bein' happy
Even if it means a divorce and switchin' families?
Your job, your house, your car, your spouse
It's all for the glory of you, Elsh-u-ou
You go to school get y' degrees and get a job
So you can make a whole lotta' g's cause' lifes hard
You never thought of livin to please a real God
And that's the reason he made you
See, he gave you breathe to breathe the chest to breathe it.
So you can taste and see He's the best, believe it
He made us for His glory and not for your own homey
Our God is Holy. You should repent and die slowly
[Spoken:]
"See, there's this thing called "Secular Humanism", it says man is the source of all meaning and all purposing. You know what I'm saying? We're just the result of a big cosmic explosion. We don't really have a purpose or meaning, so we just come up with our own purpose. We're the source of our meaning and our purpose. How can a man, which is the product of chance, a finite being be the source of purpose and meaning? You can't! You're created with purpose man! Get with The Creator yo! "
Man, everybody got a problem with God
And when you mention the Christ
Then they really get to turning the nod
But some say they roll with Christ
But some rappers made it seem like He was cool
With all the sin in their life
NO!
But then some say "How can God exist when
All this evil stuff in the world keep persistin'?
Wrong question. Ask again.
"How come God ain't' let you feel the wrath from sin? "
What you thought last night deserved a first class flight
To Hell where God doesn't dwell. You got that right
But He bought back life, on a cross that night
Christ died, you ain't know that he crossed that price?
All of God's anger put on His son
Then together, through all of eternity. Now He was shunned.
Praise God for the life that was won for us
Ain't got a beef with God because the son was crushed
[Spoken:]
You look man, "Some people say that God ain't real 'cause they don't see how a good God can exist with all this evil in the world. If God is real then He should stop all this evil, 'cause He's all-powerful right? What is evil though man? It's anything that's against God. It's anything morally bad or wrong. It's murder, rape, stealing, lying, cheating. But if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop it all or just a little bit of it? If He stops us from doing evil things, what about lying, or what about our evil thoughts? I mean, where do you stop, the murder level, the lying level, or the thinking level? If we want Him to stop evil, we gotta be consistent, we can't just pick and choose. That means you and I would be eliminated right? Because we think evil stuff. If that's true, we should be eliminated! But thanks be to God that Jesus stepped in to save us from our sin! Christ died for all evilness! Repent, turn to Jesus man! "

Change Analysis
The song Change by Lecrae is a song which focus’ mainly on the emptiness without Christ. It tells how, although someone may look like they have it all, with money, women, and cars, their life is falling apart if they don’t have Christ. It focus’ on how so many people just want happiness and joy, how they want change.
In the first verse of the song Lecrae talks about how every one without Christ is just looking for change, something that will bring them peace, happiness, or joy, even if it is only temporary. He raps as though he is rapping about a single person who is struggling to find change through women, money, clothes, cars, or anything physical that will bring change but it just won’t help how that person wants it to.
During the second verse Lecrae tells of a more therapeutic change for the person saying that they got Oprah on, and that they even tried the church. At this point Lecrae brings up the point that some churches aren’t fully helping the Kingdom due to the fact that the way that they teach makes it seem as though they are simply giving someone a bunch of rules which usually will turn any new comer off from the church. Lecrae puts this into the song to tell the Christian community to try and watch themselves and to make sure that they are open to people coming in and that they will not just scare that person off. So many churches today speak of reaching out and living for Christ but the church is set up in a way that there is no way that any Atheist or Agnostic person would ever even think of going inside.
At this point Lecrae raps “ You tried another one though, it gotcha feeling good inside and gotcha runnin’ for mo.’” At this point Lecrae is starting to hint at the happiness that comes with Christ but right after this he turns back and says “but it's all about you, not God Not truth, just because you wear the suit, don't mean you been changed.” Here Lecrae is saying that just because a certain person wears their suit on Sunday and goes to church does not mean that they are saved or living by the blood of Jesus Christ and in turn, not experiencing the full joy that comes with knowing Jesus Christ. If this person is simply going on Sunday and then living out their life for themselves then it is likely that they will still feel as though they need change.
Near the end of the song Lecrae talks about the reason for life being so hard and full of pain and that if you would just give your life fully to God then you would find that peace and joy that you had been searching for. He is simply telling everyone that is looking for change that they can find it if they would just look to God.

Change Lyrics
You done had it wit this
If broke is a habit I guess you back at it again
You need a change
Plus you need some answers
Cause you just lost your moms to cancer
You really need a change
You done tried all the drugs
And from Vegas to NY you been to all the clubs
You wanna change
You done tried new shoes and you done tried new clothes
But you still low
So you know you gotta change
Maybe you could get you a new you
A new crew, a new do, that might suit you
And your change
A new somebody to lay with
Cause the last 5 just ain't make it
They all better change
A brand new car on 6's
The one you got now needs fixin'
And plus an oil change
You done tried a new place, new clothes, new tastes
New ways, new face, but you still need a change
Hook:
You don't really know what you were put here for
But before you go
You lookin' for a change
You trying find a home you can call your own
You way too grown to making that chump change
Life's too short you been down too long
You see them clothes, it's time for you to change
Now you got Oprah on
Thinking maybe she can help you out your hopeless zone
She gone change you
You even tried the church
The pastor gave you a bunch of rules, they ain't seem to work
You dont change
You tried another one though
It gotcha feelin' good inside and gotcha runnin' for mo'
[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/change-lyrics-lecrae.html ]
And mo' change
But it's all about you, not God
Not truth, just because you wear the suit
Don't mean you been changed
Is Christ is just a means to money
Plus health, you the master and He's the dummy?
No change
Well if not that
Then maybe it's better to be confused and forget all facts
And all change
Still been chasing that change
And look where it got you, depressed, ain't a thing
You ain't making no change
You done tried to find God
The horoscopes and the stars, still ain't gettin' very far
So far no change
Hook
What if life ain't supposed to be gravy
Full of hurt, pain, death, rape, murder and craziness
If God made everything good
Then why you still gotta live in the hood, what's really good man
It goes back to Adam in Eden
When he ate that fruit believin' somehow that he could change
Man disobeys God, now both are at odds
And life is just hard cause our hearts need change
You can't find hope in cars
Hope in money, or people, only hope in God, He can change you
And Jesus felt the pain
He was hated, hurt, slandered and slain, but His death brought
change
So be a slave to your sin
Hate God, love money, love lies, Christ died so you can change
It's kinda fun for a while, but you'll lose that smile
When your lights go out and the pain won't change

40 Deep Analysis
The song 40 Deep by Lecrae is a song about the people following Christ joining together and standing strong against the lies and the schemes of the Devil while reaching out and spreading the love of Christ.
In the first line of the song Lecrae states “Cliqued up 40 deep in the streets you can find us”. The word clique is referring to the 1-1-6 clique which is an organization in which all of the major Christian rap and hip hop artists have joined and anyone can join.1-1-6 refers to Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” This group is focused mainly on not being ashamed of being a Christian and working as hard as you can to reach out to the world. 40 deep simply means a group af around 40 people which is around howmany major rap and hip hop artists are a part of the 1-1-6 clique.
This song is mainly focused on banding together as Christians because the more of you there are, the easier it is to stand strong. During this song there are three members of the 1-1-6 clique that rap. Their names are Tedashii, Lecrae, and Trip Lee. This is also done to show their point of strength in numbers.
Throughout this song Lecrae, Tedashii, and Trip Lee talk a lot about coming together and fighting strong for God. Living a life in which you never give up no matter what you go through. This song is very inspirational in my opinion in encouraging me that I am not the only one going through struggles and that there are others out there who are having the same struggles as me.
There are also many metaphors and similes in the song such as a line sung by Trip Lee in which he states the “We livin’ by the blood like we parasites.” This doesn’t in any way mean that Christians drink blood or anything but rather that we live by the sacrifice Jesus Christ made when he died on the cross and that is what we fight for.
Lecrae, Trip Lee, and Tedashii wrote this song together to give hope and encouragement to Christians trying to fight for what is right and trying to reach out.

Don't Waste Your Life Analysis
The song Don’t Waste Your Life by Lecrae focus’ on a few things. First of all it focus’ on Christians working hard for the glory of God and in turn “not wasting their lives”. It also focus’ a lot to the point that if none of this is real, what we believe, then our lives have been wasted any way, and that he has found so much joy and peace in Christ that there is no way that it couldn’t be real.
In the first verse of the song Lecrae brings up Luke 12:15-21 which states “Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” Lecrae uses this piece scripture to back up his point about Christians not wasting their lives because at any moment our lives could end and if we have not lived our lives fully for God then we run the risk of being condemned.
About halfway through the first verse Lecrae says “ Paul said, if Christ aint resurrected, we wasted our lives.” Lecrae uses this as a reference back to the Bible to state the importance of the existence of Christ in the lives of all Christians. This comes from 1 Corinthians 15:17 in which the apostle Paul was writing a letter to the church of Corinth “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” This is simply stating that if Jesus really hadn’t been raised then everything that we believed in and lived by wasn’t true and that we could not be forgiven of our sins which would cause our eternal damnation.
In the next verse Lecrae changes points in saying that living for Christ was the greatest choice that he had ever made and that Christ had filled any voids or holes in his life and further that the joy and happiness he had from knowing Christ was enough for him to fully believe in the existence.
Throughout the rest of the song Lecrae talks about his willingness to do what ever is needed from him for the lord. He talks about persecution and tribulation and is generally stating that he believes in this faith enough, and believes in the word that he is ready for everything that is and will be thrown at him.
Every Christian has their time of questioning and wondering on whether or not we are wasting our lives. Lecrae does a good job in relating with that problem through this song and furthermore encouraging this crowd to push through and find the truth for themselves while still giving scripture to lead them in the right direction.

Don't Waste Your Life Lyrics
Let’s Go
Don't waste your life, man
Verse 1 (Lecrae):
I know a lot of people that are scared they gon' die,
Couple of 'em thinkin' they'll be livin' in the sky
While I’m here livin' man I gotta ask why,
What am I here for I gotta figure out,
Waste my life, no I gotta make it count,
If Christ is real then what am I gonna do about,
Everything in Luke 12:15 down to 21 ya really gotta go and check it out,
Paul said if Christ aint resurrected we wasted our lives,
Would that imply that our lives drift around Jesus being alive,
Everyday I live I try to show the world why,
Christ is more than anything I'd ever try,
Better than pretty women and sinning and living to get a minute of any woman and men that you admire
It aint no lie!
We created for Him,
Out of the dust he made us for Him,
Elects us and he saved us for Him,
Jesus comes and he raised us for Him,
Magnify the Father, why bother with something lesser?
He made us so we could bless Him, (Bless Him)
Tell the world we confess Him,
Resurrects Him,
So I know I got life,
Matter fact better man I know I got Christ,
If you don’t see His ways in my days in my nights,
You can hit my breaks you can stop my life,
Man I lost my rights, lost my life,
Forget the money, cars and toss that ice,
The cost is Christ,
And they can never offer me anything any better that would cost that price
Hook (Cam):
Don’t wanna waste my life, life, life,
Don’t wanna waste my life, life, life,
Don’t wanna waste my life, life, life,
Don’t wanna waste my,
Don’t wanna waste my, (x2)
Don’t wanna waste my life

Verse 2 (Dwayne Tryumf):
Armed and dangerous
So the devil just can't hang with us
Christian youth they must stand wid us
Livin' n driven, given a vision, fullfillin the commission he handed us
London to Los Angeles
The rap evangelist
Ma daddy wouldn't abandon us
"I gotta back pack fulla tracts and I getta Johnny Mac"
So are you ready to jam with us,s o lets go
Gimme the word and lets go
Persecution lets go
Tribulation lets go
Across the nation let's go
Procrastination let's go
Hung on the cross in the cold
Died for da young and the old
Can't say you never know
Heaven knows
How many souls are going to hell or to heaven so we gotta go in and get em
Hook
Verse 3 (Lecrae):
Suffer, yeah, do it for Christ,
If you're trying to figure out what to do with ya life,
If you make a lot of money hope your doin' it right,
Because the money is God’s, you better steward it right,
You stay focused, you ain't got no ride,
Your life ain't wrapped up in what you drive,
The clothes you wear, the job you work,
The color your skin, nah you're Christian first,
People get it living for a job,
Make a little money start living for a car,
Get em a wife, a house, kids and a dog,
Then they retire, they living high on the hog,
But guess what? They didn’t ever really live at all,
To live is Christ, and that’s Paul I recall,
To die is gain and for Christ we give it all,
He's the treasure you’ll never find in a mall,
See your money, your singleness, marriage, talents, your time,
They were loaned you to show the world that Christ is divine,
That’s why its Christ in my rhymes,
That’s why its Christ all the time,
See my whole world is built around Him,
He’s the life in my lines,
I refuse to waste my life,
He’s too true to chase that ice,
Here’s my gift and time,
'cause I'm constantly tryna ta be used to praise the Christ,
If He’s truly raised to life,
Then this news should change your life ,
And by His grace you can put your faith in the place that rules your days and nights,
YES!
Hook with:
(Gotta getta you,
I'm ready, Lord
Even with they
They're startin', Lord
Gotta live for,
For somethin' more
There's something 'cause you
Don't wanna waste my life [x2])
Don't waste your life, man

Battle Song Analysis
The song Battle Song by Lecrae focuses mainly on the spiritual battle Christian people will go through in their daily lives. Lecrae writes about the persecution and further more about the importance of wearing the full armor of God so that we are ready for the battle and for anything else thrown our way. Throughout the song he hints and references passages from the bible to back up his argument. This song is meant as an encouragement to Christian people to keep the faith and to fight for the name of Christ.
The main scripture this song is based around is Ephesians 6:10-17 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Near the beginning of the song Lecrae sings “My belt tight, shoes laced, plus a breast plate My war helmet on now I got my head straight.” This is a direct reference to that portion of scripture. Lecrae talks much about battling and although he uses very literal and physical terms, the real battle he is talking about is the battle of persecution, temptation, and the spiritual battle all Christians struggle with.
The issue of persecution is huge throughout this song. Lecrae states “Plenty of faith in the persecution is inventory.” Lecrae uses this verse to further drive his point to the issue of persecution but also as a hint to a couple of scriptures. The first being Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” And the second scripture being 2 Timothy 3:12 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Through these lines Lecrae is saying that although persecution may seem like a bad and hard thing to go through, in truth it is good and should be expected if you are living a true Christian life.
Near the end of the first verse Lecrae states that “And if they drop us this promise we’ll take it to the grave, that tonight we may die, but to die is our gain.” Lecrae ends with this statement to make the point that, yes, we will be persecuted and tortured, some of us to the point of death, for the name of Jesus Christ, but to be tortured and persecuted for us should be a good thing because it not only shows us that we are doing something right but also that we have hope in the eternal life after death. To die for us is gain, not loss. Philippians 1:21 “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
In the chorus of the song Lecrae writes “And yeah though I walk through the valley of the dead, ya my hope still remains.” Psalm 23:4 says “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Lecrae uses this reference in the chorus which of course is the most sung part of the song to show that even though we will go through persecution and strife for the name of Jesus Christ, throughout all of this God will give us strength and comfort so that we can stand strong and not give up.
Throughout the entire span of the song Lecrae sings of the persecution, temptation, and spiritual and physical struggle Christians will go through in their daily lives if they are truly living for Christ. Although it may seem as though this is a song about negative things in Christian life, Lecrae is actually stating that if these things are happening to you, and if you are continuing to push through, then you should be glad and should rejoice over this, because great is your reward in heaven. He is telling all Christians to stand strong and to not give up. To come together and fight to spread the name of Jesus Christ to the world. This is truly inspirational song to me.

Battle Song Lyrics
These are the Lyrics to the song Battle Song by Lecrae:
"Oh yeah! (Oh yeah)
Here we go! (Here we go)
A little rough! (A little rough)
No sweat! (No sweat)
I can do it! (I can do it)
You can do it! (You can do it)
Ooorah! (Ooorah)
Left right...
Tell 'em bring their guns out
Send my city up in flames
And yea though I walk through the valley of the dead
But my hope still remains
Whether dead or alive, this is do or die
When Christ is the gain
So raise your torches up high
Tonight we fight for our King
I was Taylored to snatch the mic Swiftly like Kanye did
And lay it down for the king like a sleigh bed
And they can kill us now, go get the yellow tape
Hey put me 6 feet in the ground and watch a great escape
I promise, ain't a 6 shooter that can keep me down
My God's so official, that's a technical foul
Was engineered in my mother's womb for Gods' glory
Plenty faith in the persecution is inventory
I been spit in the face, still exhibiting grace
Kicked out many a place, just for sharing my faith
My belt tight, shoes laced, plus a breast plate
My war helmet on now I got my head straight
The battle's on but the war is over when Jesus reigns
And fo' His name I withstand the pressure and take the pain
And if they drop us, this promise, we'll take it to the grave
That tonight we may die, but to die is our gain!
Tell 'em bring their guns out
Send my city up in flames
And yea though I walk through the valley of the dead
But my hope still remains
Whether dead or alive, this is do or die
When Christ is the gain
So raise your torches up high
Tonight we fight for our King
Bout to be a riot, guns and fire, Somebody's dyin'
But it won't be us, covered in His blood, spillin' our guts
But even if it was, let our dust blow in the wind, we win when it's done
Christ puttin' out thunder-raps with the nuns
So I am taking no prisoners, not-a-one
None, and no I'm not The One
I just run solar in the power of The Son
My God's a m-m-monsta
Treads on Black mambas defeats and conquers
Tell 'em bring their guns out
Send my city up in flames
And yea though I walk through the valley of the dead
But my hope still remains
Whether dead or alive, this is do or die
When Christ is the gain
So raise your torches up high
Tonight we fight for our King
Yeah, ready to die, notorious for our martyrs man
We die daily and wake up and do it all again
Either we certain or we certainly insane
Bullets riddlin' our frame, still we don't deny the Name
Maybe we lost it, we vuelvo loco
'Cause Heaven is my home homie I ain't local
I'm so vocal
Chords of a chorus say we tied to the Lord like Chords
Of course
Hey what a course, if I get to goin' in
I'm going off like "kill me" I'm still goin' in
God, by all means possible
Give me the faith to live and die for the gospel
Tell 'em bring their guns out
Send my city up in flames
And yea though I walk through the valley of the death
But my hope still remains
Whether dead or alive, this is do or die
When Christ is the gain
So raise your torches up high
Tonight we fight for our King
Our king, our king, tonight we fight for our King
Our king, our king, tonight we fight for our King"

I'm going off like "kill me" I'm still goin' in
God, by all means possible
Give me the faith to live and die for the gospel
Tell 'em bring their guns out
Send my city up in flames
And yea though I walk through the valley of the death
But my hope still remains
Whether dead or alive, this is do or die
When Christ is the gain
So raise your torches up high
Tonight we fight for our King
Our king, our king, tonight we fight for our King
Our king, our king, tonight we fight for our King"
